Lots of big upsets last weekend. Lots of huge upsets last weekend. No one expected the Giants would manhandle the Broncos on the road. Atlanta getting stunned at home by Miami. And the Chargers were able to escape Oakland with another narrow victory. Surprises bound to happen this weekend as well.

Bye Week Teams:
Thursday, October 19
Kansas City at Oakland
Line: Chiefs by 2½
The loss to Pittsburgh should give the Chief more focus and less pressure to be undefeated. They travel to the bay area where The Raiders are in need of a win as they lost 4 straight. An ineffective Derek Carr was the source of problems. He’ll need to be at 100% percent for the silver and black to win.
Smooth’s Pick – Kansas City (22-16)
Sunday October 22
Arizona at LA Rams
Line: Rams by 3½
Cardinals with a big win over Tampa Bay puts them even with the Rams, who are this year’s surprise story. Newly acquired Adrian Peterson will have to be the source of the Cardinals offense. Keep the ball away from the Rams offense and they can win.
Smooth’s Pick – Arizona (17-13)
Baltimore at Minnesota
Line: Vikings by 5½
The Ravens blew a chance to win over the lowly Bears. Now they’ll have to be ready as they travel to the twin cities. The Vikings will have QB Teddy Bridgewater ready in case Sam Bradford isn’t ready to go. Could be a low scoring matchup.
Smooth’s Pick – Minnesota (16-13)
Carolina at Chicago
Line: Panthers by 3½
Carolina lost a tough one at home to Philly last Thursday. The extra couple of days gives them an advantage over the Bears, who won their second game of the season. This one won’t be that easy for the Bears.
This is my lock!
Smooth’s Pick – Carolina (29-16)
Jacksonville at Indianapolis
Line: Jags by 3
This is another crucial game for the Jags. It’s a divisional matchup with the Colts and they need to somehow score a victory. The Colts got hammered by the Titans and they’ll need to hope that somehow Andrew Luck can return.
Smooth’s Pick – Jacksonville (25-17)
NY Jets at Miami
Line: Dolphins by 3½
‘Gang Green’ got screwed out of a victory against the Patriots last weekend and they’ll have to regroup for a trip to south beach. The Dolphins somehow squeezed out a victory against the Falcons. A win could mean a three way tie for the lead.
Smooth’s Pick – Miami (23-18)
New Orleans at Green Bay
Line: Saints by 6
The loss of Aaron Rodgers means the Saints have a great opportunity to steal a victory in Lambeau. However, the Packers will rely on third year back up Brett Hundley to run the ship. It will be a close game, but don’t be surprised if the Pack come out on top.
This is my upset special!
Smooth’s Pick – Green Bay (24-21)
Tampa Bay at Buffalo
Line: Bills by 3
The Bills will try to stay perfect at home as they return from a bye to take on the Bucs. Tampa Bay had a scare having lost Jameis Winston in the loss last weekend, but he should be 100% ready. The Bucs offense need him to stay upright against a tough Bills defense.
Smooth’s Pick – Buffalo (30-16)
Tennessee at Cleveland
Line: Titans by 6½
The Titans travel to Browns stadium to try and snap a two game road losing streak. Marcus Mariotta will be back to start. They may get their chance to win verses a Browns team that has their own problems with winning.
Smooth’s Pick – Tennessee (28-14)
Dallas at San Francisco
Line: Cowboys by 4½
The Cowboys coming off a bye week travel to the bay area. The temporary restraining order lifted in Ezikiel Elliott means good news for the Dallas run game and bad news for the Niners defense.
Smooth’s Pick – Dallas (24-13)
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh
Line: Steelers by 5
The Bengals needed a bye week as they will travel to Pittsburgh. A win by the Steelers will control the AFC North and put a nice cushion between them and the Bengals.
Smooth’s Pick – Pittsburgh (24-10)
Denver at LA Chargers
Line: Bolts by 1½
The Broncos got spanked and humiliated by the Giants. They also lost some key personnel on offense due to injuries. The Bolts pulled off another surprise finish in Oakland last weekend. They could pull another off again.
Smooth’s Pick – LA Chargers (17-16)
Seattle at NY Giants
Line: Seahawks by 6
The G-men finally got a win last weekend. But they will have a tough time getting two in a row verses a tough Seattle defense. However, Russell Wilson and company have been held to 16 points or fewer this season. That gives Big Blue a chance.
Smooth’s Pick – NY Giants (21-19)
Atlanta at New England
Line: Patriots by 3
Last time these two teams met was in the Super Bowl. We all know what happened back then. This is another chance for the Falcons on prime time. However, last weekend they couldn’t hold a lead to Miami. The Patriots have their own set of issues.
Smooth’s Pick – New England (30-24)
Monday October 23
Washington at Philadelphia
Line: Eagles by 4½
The Eagles were not supposed to be contenders, but with a win on Monday night, they could have a commanding lead in the NFC East. They take on the Redskins who had a bye week and look to keep pace with a win.
Smooth’s Pick – Philadelphia (31-21)
